FAQ

Q: How do I go about getting my music mastered?
A: First, I have a listen to your final mix, and then if adjustments are needed for optimal mastering, we'll discuss them together. Afterward, simply send me your audio files ahead of your booking. This way we'll be all set to provide you with a customized and effective mastering experience that aligns perfectly with your vision.

Q: What format should I send?
A: For optimal results, ensure your audio files are of the highest quality. We recommend a minimum of 24Bit 44.1Khz format, though 24Bit 48Khz WAV files are preferred. Kindly refrain from sending files in the mp3 format as this may not provide sufficient material for mastering purposes. While I can convert files if needed, it's important to note that upsampling low bit rate files will not yield significant improvements in quality. Your commitment to providing high-quality source material will contribute to a more refined and impressive final product.

Q: Do you master for Vinyl?
A: Yes, I master for Vinyl on request. Things to consider are:

  • Sibilance Concerns: Extreme low-end stereo effects should be checked before vinyl cutting to prevent groove skips caused by out-of-phase low end.
  • Music Length Impact: Longer music content occupies more groove space, leading to increased deterioration. High-energy tracks with pronounced highs are particularly susceptible. Keeping each side of your record around 20 minutes yields better results. Dynamic content can allow longer sides.
  • Tonal Balance Control: Manage subharmonic low end to optimize space on a vinyl record.
  • Track Position and Sound Quality: The location on the record affects sound quality. Inner parts exhibit loss of clarity and air compared to outer areas.
  • Level Reduction: Lower cutting levels reduce sibilance distortion and stress on the stylus. It also minimizes inner diameter issues and handles low-end vertical information better.

Q: Do you offer stems mastering?
A: Stems mastering is a concept that can occasionally lead to confusion. I do offer the option to master from basic stems (Drums, Bass, Guitars, Vocals, etc.) as it can provide added control over the final master. However, it's important to distinguish between stems mastering and essentially remixing a multitrack. Mastering ideally should serve as the final touch before your music is released rather than a phase for ongoing alterations. While stems mastering is available upon request, it's worth noting that this service is subject to a higher rate compared to mastering from the stereo file. This ensures that the unique benefits of stems mastering come with a corresponding investment.

Q: Can you restore audio?
A: I possess a range of effective tools to address unwanted artifacts and noise in audio/music. I'm capable of significantly reducing these imperfections to enhance your audio quality. It's important to note that these services are considered additional and will incur separate charges based on their complexity and scope. This ensures that you have the flexibility to tailor your mastering experience according to your specific needs, with the option to include these refinements as desired.
